GHOREPANI POON HILL CIRCUIT TREK

Overview

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Circuit is one of the most popular short treks in Nepal, and for good reason. The pre-dawn climb to Poon Hill at 3,210 meters rewards you with a 360-degree panorama that includes Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Machapuchare, and Hiunchuli — all glowing in the first light of day. The circuit route through Ghorepani and Tadapani takes you through some of the most beautiful rhododendron forests in the country, which explode with color from March to May.

The trek passes through Magar and Gurung villages where traditional stone homes sit on hillside terraces surrounded by fields of millet and rice. At moderate difficulty, the circuit is accessible to most reasonably fit trekkers and can be done in about 8 days. The well-maintained trail and comfortable teahouses make this an excellent choice for first-time visitors to Nepal who want a genuine mountain experience without extreme altitude.
